Dear Scrivener...

Why must you confuse me? After all that confusion and frustration of trying to get you to install, I download the installer for a third time, and you suddenly decide to install on my computer. Why, Scrivener? I am grateful that you are now working at least, but next time try to work the first time.

Prepping for National Novel Writing Month--Google+ and Scrivener

Recently, I set up a Google+ account. I'm not sure if they're still in beta or open to the public now, but there's plenty of people on there that it seems pretty open. Not to mention they give you 150 invites when you join, so it's easy to just say that it's open to everyone.

While looking for anything Nano-related on Google+, I disovered many people are making NaNoWriMo circles. For those that know about NaNoWriMo, it's much more fun with other people, and Google+ makes it easy to share the Nano-stuff with just those people in your Nano circle. So, following the Nano-crowd, I made my own Nano circle. I have 33 people so far, and I add more all the time.

A lot of the people in my Nano circle are using Scrivener this year, and I thought I'd try it myself. So, I trotted on over to Literature and Latte to download the beta version for Windows. In past years, they've given a free trial for Nanoers during November then offer a 50% off coupon to winners. They're supposed to release the full Windows version sometime this year. Hopefully, they'll do it soon because I've had nothing but issues with the beta already.

I can't even get the damn beta to load. When I discovered this, I actually felt a little sad. The problem I appear to be having is the inability to get the download to install. When I click on the download, it brings up that wonderful Windows window asking if I'm sure I want to install the product. Yes, I'm sure! Duh! Anyway, so after clicking "yes" on that little box, I get nothing.

My computer just sits there, and I stare at it expecting something to load. And nothing happens. So, I posted a help topic on Literature and Latte's forums, and I'm hoping for a response sometime today. I would really like to get Scivener up and running. Does anyone have any helpful tips for why this might be happening?

A Moment of Reflection While Reading a Fellow Blogger's Blog

Tonight, I went through and began reading entries of blogs I follow that I hadn't read yet. One of the last I read was "Yeah, Write." I really like this blog because it talks about scrapbooking, journaling, and all other kinds of "ings" that I like to do. Except perhaps creative writing. Anyway, recently I saw these two blog posts on my iGoogle page called "Daphne's Story" and "Daphne's Album." Curious, I finally got a chance to look at them tonight.

Because Angie's words regarding these posts are so powerful, I will simply include the links. However, I will say that it is about a baby girl who had a beautiful impact on people even for the 58 days she lived. The story about this baby girl was so powerful, and it makes me appreciate my baby girl all that much more. It makes me realize how little I have recorded about my baby girl's life yet Rachel, Daphne's mommy, had a daily account. I can't even keep a weekly account.

Sure, I could say "Oh, I'm busy. I'm a mom, wife, and student. Where would I find time?" Well, I could squeeze in time when I usually waste away hours playing games. All I have to do is say "I'm going to write before I do this" then just take out the notebook and write. Daphne's story inspired me to remember to live life to the fullest.You never know when your life will be cut off, or when you might lose your daughter/son. Now, instead of saying "I have no time," I'm going to stop and say, "I'm going to make time." Then I will close my game, pull out my journal, and write about my baby girl.

Thank you, Angie, for sharing Daphne's story with us. Thank you, Rachel, for opening your heart and home to a baby girl that many others wouldn't have wanted. And thank you, Daphne, for showing us just how precious life really is.

Another Art Project for EDUC 349

Recently, for my Visual & Performing Arts for Elementary Students my teacher had us do this little art project. Using color as our emphasis, we are to take these 8 words and make little drawings: tranquil, thunderous, war, peace, hot, cold, fluffy, and gritty. Here are four that I've done:
